I want to thank you for your post on smoking andchizophrenia. I hope see how detrimental smoking can me especially to schizophrenia patients. I am so happy I never started to smoke. way back in 1983 when I was first hospitalized I would sit in the smoking room just to talk but never did I take up that unhealthy practice of smoking.

i firmly believe hospitals should have become smoke free many many years ago.

i hope other patients reading your post on smoking try their best to stop for the various reasons you mentioned.

My Mom has schizophrenia and smokes one behind the other until her supply is gone. She is given 2 packs on Monday and Wednesday and 3 on Fridays and she smokes them one behind the other until her allowance is gone (within 24 hrs). My question is does anyone know of a programmable cigarette dispenser. She is positive about the possibility of not having to do without over half the time.
