This post is about a plan I have, but I hope I have an open mind. I am under a lot of stress now. I am moving, and I have some continuing financial concerns. Now does schizophrenia mean that my stress is not managed well, and I take the medicaion whether or the stress exists? I approached my doctor about coming off clozaril and we agreed to add small amounts of respirdal. I reneged on this. I felt a change inside my head and was afraid. Now I have decide if the change is a worthwhile goal for me. Any comments are appreciated.

I cannot tell you to change meds, but ask yourself if it works why fix it? I took clozaril for a number of years and found it to work the best of any med I ever took. I stayed out of the hospital 7 years in a row. I had to stop taking it about 4 years ago because of side effects. Since I stopped taking it I've been hospitalized 5 times and had 6 med changes. Please don't be dismayed. This is only me. Everyone is affected differently by meds. I'm currently taking Resperital Consta shot every two plus a couple other meds. If I could I'd go back on Clozaril, but I can't. According to my pdoc they are working on a med similar to Clozaril without the side effects. I hope whatever decision you make it will work out for you.
Take care,
Dave
Thanks for your comment. A change is necessary. I've become more ambivalent and confused. I've wanted to see more clearly for almost 5 years. Yes, it helped me also, and I'm not taking anything away from it.
I still have to make a decision even if it means an increase in clozaril. I don't want to do that. I've been on alow dosage for about 6 years.
