At 26 years old, with a 4 year old little girl, I find myself totally in love with a man who suffers from schizophrenia.  He was diagnosed a little over a year ago, having had dilusions and episodes for quite some time, never seeking treatment.  Since he has had treatment, he has had no psychotic episodes.  From day one, he was honest about his schizophrenia, and neither of us expected to be more than just friends anyway, so I didn't give it much thought.  Suddenly, a few months later, I am completely smitten.  Had he not told me about his schizophrenia, I would never know.  He does have symptoms, such as periodic depression (days where he is apathetic and doesn't want to get out of bed), he has very low self esteem, and he is not a very social guy, yet he maintains very close relationships with his long time friends.  He is sweet, funny, hard working - in the time I've known him, he has not missed a single day of work.  He only seems apathetic when he is NOT working or doesn't have plans.  As long as he is busy, he is great.  He is amazing with my daughter, and I have absolutely no fear of him ever hurting her or myself.

Unfortunately, the research I've done, seems to show severe cases only... people who can't seem to function day to day, needing assistance, having daily dillusions....  he isn't like that, and I'm afraid that perhaps he will be at some point?  We have discussed moving in together, and as it is now, I am ready and excited at the prospect.  He knows that his meds are important, he has no plans to stop taking them.  With a little girl, is there anything I should know?  Am I smart to follow my gut, or is my heart fogging my head?
