writer seeking information

By hemingwayforever Friday, March 14, 2008

Hi I'm actually Bipolar but I am interested learning about all mental illnesses, and I'm hoping to write a book. My question is, can someone who's schizophrenic be married to someone who is Bipolar? Maybe even one of you is, I just want to try and create a story with characters in a relationship like that. I am not into trashing any mental illness, if anything I want to educate people on the good things, and the struggles.

I tried asking my therapist but he has never met anyone bipolar, or schizophrenic that is in a marriage like that.

Hello Hemingwayforever,

Robin Cunningham, one of the resident experts has a family member (his daughter I believe) who is bipolar and and Robin is schizophrenic. You can read some advice Robin gave to another member in this posting about dealing with both conditions in this posting to Glen.

Robin has also written a posting about the FDA approval of Risperdal for the treatment of both schizophrenia and bipolar disorders in children. You can read the full article here.

I hope you find this information to be a good start on your research. There is a wealth of information here available, all you have to do is ask.

Take care and stay in touch!
