The 30mg dose of Zyprexa is making me feel better and is taking away the breakthrough symptoms. But I did sleep 2 hours this afternoon, which I hate. All-in-all, though, it has been a good day. Mom and I went to wash clothes today, then I ironed most of them, went to the drugstor...

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 03:14 PMDave, thank you for your comment. In 1997 I had worked at a high-paying job for 12 yrs. After ECT and many hospitalizations, I finally resigned my position. I was able to get a disability retirement pension and have been receiving SSDI payments for 3 yrs. I loved the job and hated to leave it, but it was high-stress and overwhelming after I got sick. Right after quitting that job, I rapidly went through 10 other places of work either quitting or being told to find other employment. Finally I leveled with myself and knew I needed some time away from stress as much as possible. I make a total of $23,000/yr now, just enough to live on comfortably. And I actually feel content with where I am and who I am, and all that entails.

Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 05:45 PMHello Carolyn,
I must say, working isn't for everyone.
The choice I made . . . it came at a cost.
If you enjoy the life you lead, that's all that matters.
Have a good day.

Carolyn, I understand about wanting to work. I left a really high paying job just over a year ago. I worked at that place for 11 years and it was a blessing when I left. I applied for SSD and got it last August. I also applied for my pension, which I recently got. I struggled for many months as to whether or not to go back to work. It hasn't been until I received my retirement that I decided not to work. I do volunteer as much as possible. Which I find more rewarding than any other job I've ever had. The payback I get from it is worth more than any paycheck I've gotten. Volunteering or working isn't for everyone, I feel there is no shame in doing what your heart tells you.
