I have now been on Geodon for a little over 2 weeks.  I have lost from 176 to 168, which is a wonderful start.  And so soon, too.  I didn't have to wait to start feeling the GOOD side effects.  It is making me hypomanic, too, which feels great after 11 yrs of sleeping 12-14 hrs...

    Hi Carolyn,

I understand your elation completely. It was a complete joy to "wake up" after the sedation of Zyprexa and also not to hear the constant siren call of the fridge every minute of the day. I think you will continue to lose weight down to your baseline very quickly, though you may have to work on the last ten to twenty pounds. They may not just melt away as they are doing now, but with just a little work, you'll be back to where you want to be. I did find, however, that once I was off Zyprexa I found it extraordinarily difficult to read; I no longer had the champagne fizzy excitement about books that I once had, the intellectual drive to learn learn learn. On the other hand, on Abilify and Geodon, I have all this creativity in terms of art and writing that I don't have enough hours in a day to satisfy it! So go figger. It is really something, what these drugs can do to a person, isn't it?

Good luck. I hope the Geodon continues to be a great success for you.

    Hello Carolyn,

It's good to see the Geodon is working, waking you up and giving you energy.

I wish you the best in the future.

    Chris

Congratulations on your weight loss. I hope others see that it is possible to lose weight while on the type of medications we must take. I have said more than once how I went from close to 200 pounds to my current weight of around 140 pounds. I am a 48 year old woman who stands five feet five inches tall. I currently take 600 miligrams of Seroquel at bedtime and levothyroxine for my thyroid. The weight did not come off quickly and while it did take time through exercise and portion control it left me feeling do good mentally as well as physically.

Start off slow with any exercise and the motive I try to go by is just keep moving!
