    Carolyn;

     

    The self-analysis/evaluation you portray in this block is proof of the fact that you have "gone where very few ever go."  [Please pardon the paraphrase of the old Star Treck claim that the voyagers in Star Trek "have gone where no man has gone before."]

     

    I suspect that (as with me) you discoveries about yourself and what you now value most have been affected by your experience with schizophrenia.  This illness seems to bring a deeper and more profound understanding of life, a uncommon concept of values, and I think this promotes compassion.

     

    Keep it up and I think you will be richly rewarded.
