I am still waiting to see whether my benefits will be re-approved.  But knowing how the gov't does things I may be in for a long wait.   How does Thailand sound?  I have an opportunity to go there next July for 10 days.  I don't know how much it will cost yet, but if I plan to g...

    Hi Carolyn,

I was not aware that you had to be re-approved for SSDI.  I thought that you just had to see a doctor regulary so that he/she could justify that you are unable to work.

Thailand sounds great!    My mom had nothing but good things to say when she visited last year so I think it would be a great experience.

    Have a nice day,

Rene, when you are receiving SSDI, you are reviewed every 3, 5, or 7 years according to when they think you might recover enough to work again.  They actually waited 4 yrs to review my records because I think they are behind.  Someone told me they had to let go of a lot of people to try to cut costs.  So if your review gets passed around to several people, it is going to take a while for them to come to a decision.  And yes, seeing your doctor regularly will be one of the things they look for in order to renew your SSDI.
