Morningsong

Sultry, dark, dank,

It is,

As bleak as night could ever be,

Sirens wail,

Clamor cacophonously

As would gamelan music,

Lacking in melody,

Its harmony discordant…

Upon this early morning,

Prior to the rising of the sun,

Sweltering in the high humidity, I am…

A morningsong,

As delicate as a Gaelic lullaby,

Has awakened The Demons

Who are dwelling within, me?

On this dog day

Before the eruption of dawn.

The hands of the digital clock

That hangs above the kitchen stove

Turn back to the time

Of late morning awakening.

In a dazed stupor, I walk.

The Thorazine shuffle carries me

Toward the bathroom, yawning.

I glance outside the window

Only to envision

All of the crazy people

Alive in this topsy-turvy mixed up world

Bouncing up and down,

To an fro

As little children would,

To the disjointed tune of Gamelan music.

Traveling back in the time zone,

I am, without any lasting direction,

I live with shooting stars in the darkness,

Only sleeping after daybreak.

In the twilight,

I awaken,

Only to walk along side of the living-dead,

Shuffling to the percussion

Of the discordant faraway music,

As The Demons sing to me their eerie, early morning’s song,

Sultry, dark, and dank as the day begins

Only the beginning it is, as

Life is a disharmonious song that is never ending….
