Traditional treatments for schizophrenia are medications. Antipsychotics are used to suppress the symptoms of schizophrenia such as hallucinations, delusions, and cognitive impairment. These medications must be prescribed by a physician because they are often quite powerful and can have side-effects such as sleep issues, sexual problems or nausea. It is also important to find the right medication for you – not everyone responds similarly to the same medications.
