Have you heard of a condition called Kaufman's Autism that has several features similar to sz? Such as catatonia. Can sz mimic autism? And would psycotopic drugs help in this instance?

Hello abcd,

I will research this and get back to you.

What I can tell you now: people with autism can also have schizophrenia, and people with schizophrenia can also have autism.  I know of someone with autism who has bipolar, by the way.  So it is possible that both conditions can co-occur in one person.

Regards,

Christina

I have a 50-yr-old friend who was diagnosed with schizophrenia when he was a teen.  But I have been around him for some time now and I believe he may really have autism because he shows some of the hallmark features.  He never took an antipsychotic for very long and doesn't seem to need it, although he does have problems with depression.  Of course, I am not a professional.  I don't know if or what kind of medication would be advised for someone with autism or sz that seems to mimic autism.  My suggestion would be to do some googling and see what you can find.
