Hi,

Have you looked into the NAMI Queens/Nassau sponsored Friendship Network?  The provide friends for the mentally ill.  Here is a clip from their website:

Friendship Network is a unique not-for-profit organization which introduces men and women recovering from mental illness to one another.  They serve the five boroughs of New York City (Queens, Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island, and Brooklyn), Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk County), Westchester County and Northern New Jersey.

If you feel lonely or isolated because you suffer from a mental illness such as an anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder (aka manic depression), body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), borderline personality disorder (BPD), depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, phobias such as agoraphobia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, social anxiety disorder, or any other mood, personality, or mental health disorder, the NAMI Queens/Nassau-sponsored program FRIENDSHIP NETWORK may be for you.

I hope you find this link helpful.

Regards,

Mike
