Hi Janet, I've spoken with my local, reputable pharmacist. As you may have guessed, XR simply means extended release. So you take one pill and it lasts all day. The pharmacist suggested the Seroquel XR isn't any better necessarily. He told me the XR-type drugs have more side effects. Hope this helps. Regards, Christina
