when i was 18 I was diagnosed with bi polar disorder.  My doctors put me on zyprexa and about 2 years ago I switched to geodon because of constant sleepiness.  I am now 29 and the geodon took away my sleepiness and I am now more alert.  However, I have experienced a lot of anxiety and have bascially have had no solid appetite ever since I have switched medications.  I NEED my appetite back and zyprexa gave that to me, but I don't want to be constantly tired.  What should I do?  How do I get my appetite back?  Why do I have no appetite?

When I took Geodon, I too had no appetite, which was a big switch from Zyprexa.  One thing you might consider is eating several small meals a day, if you fill up quickly, instead of 3 regular meals.  That doesn't exactly pertain to appetite but perhaps would help keep your weight stable.  I do know that having no appetite can be as frustrating as having too much.  People think they would like to have no appetite in order to lose weight, but you can lose too much.  If you are on an antidepressant, you might consider switching to Remeron which is an antidepressant that also acts as an appetite stimulant.  Worked for my brother.
