Upwards of 75 percent of the people diagnosed with schizophrenia fail to take their meds completely or engage in partial compliance where they skip doses.
Yet a significant number of us take our medication as prescribed every day and this is true for the long-time active community members of this Web site.
I've taken my medication every day as prescribed for over 19 years and missed only one dose on the day I had to get a medical test.
So I wouldn't concern myself with any statistics. What you need to concern yourself with is creating trust with your loved one so that you can use techniques to convince him or her to take her meds and stay in treatment if she lacks the insight that he or she is sick and refuses to take the drugs.
If that is the case you can write back and I'll recommend a book you can read on the topic.
Regards,
Christina
