Q: Has there ever been cases of Schizophrenia where there are very strong emotions of love and hatred?

Ever since i hit puberty I had these two emotions. All I ever wanted was love, it is the only thing that has kept me from killing myself. I would be fine, but all the other symptoms keep me from even having friends. I try to socialize but all I am is mean to people. I do not know why, but it has made me alone in this world! No one can ever stand me. I have no friends and most of my family just send all the mean right back. Right from the start I always had dilusions of wife and kids. Taking care of them when their sick or sad. Through the fights and the friendship. It is all great, but it is not real. I was a fourteen year old kid who wished he had a wife and kids. With love you have to have hatred. It is the ying to the yang, the dark to the light. I live in a state where everyone around me hates me. With this i have grown to hate humans. I tend to find their flaws, and sort of think of myself as of not of this world, as a higher inteligence, a demon, or an alien. I know none of it is real, but I can not help but go along with it. Over time i have learned to keep most of my thoughts towards love, but the others do come back from time to time. I was on meds, but the doctor took me off. I thought I was fine, but I did not realize these emotions were part of it. Even with the meds I always felt the love and hatred. Now I wonder if I can even be treated. Scientists still today debate whether or not love and hatred are acctually true emotions.

Hello rjstud360,

David is right it can be scary to feel all your feelings.  The difference is we need to keep our feelings under control and not get overwhelmed by them.  Extremes of sadness or of anger or of love even or of hate are not healthy.

It is by being in relationships that we learn to navigate our feelings, reality test exactly what is going on and experience true feelings.

I'm not sure how being mean to people is going to help you get ahead in life.  it will only alienate others from you and cause heartache in love, life and work.

I would suggest cognitive therapy for you or at the least talk therapy so you can talk to a professional about this who can help you manage your feelings better.

Take control: take action by talking to a real person you can trust.

Regards,

Christina

As a teenager I had two emotions..happy and anger. I held onto those for years. But there came a time where I wanted more. I didn't know if I ever would, but I kept hoping. Gaining feelings for me was hard, yet I worked even harder to gain all the emotions we are given.

My best advice to you is "NEVER EVER GIVE UP!!!"

Keep working towards feelings. It will be hard and it will be strange to feel a whole host of emotions. Don't give up. You are young. Remember that YOU can feel.

I wish you the very best!!

David

What the OP is speaking of sounds more like Bipolar and other mood disorders. Schizophrenia, in all its forms, is clearly distinguished by things such as: flat effect (minimal to zero emotional response to stimuli) and asocial behavior - having no inherent desire to socialize with others
