Any personal experiences with seroquel?
My doc recently added seroquel XR (it's helped a lot). I'm already on Geodon and Abilify. I wass supposed to taper off the Geodon but I just can't do it, I think maybe with a higher dose of seroquel I might be able to. Does anyone have experience with doses of seroquel at 600mg or more? I am at 400 now. I am seeing a new doc in July and am pretty much on my own until then. Also thinking I might do better tapering the abilify. Any experiences there?
Just gathering info for my next visit. I'm sticking with all three for now.
Hello OceanBlue,
I don't have experience with Seroquel so I'm asking those who do to please respond to your question. As for the Abilify my psychiatrist said an option for me is to start a low dose of the Abilify in addition to the Geodon for residual symptoms. We're holding off on this until I've completed a round of cognitive therapy sessions to see if that kind of therapy helps me. If it doesn't, we will entertain the Abilify at a low dose though that is off the table for now.
By the way, Seroquel can be used as a sleep aid at a low dose.
Regards,
Christina

I took Seroquel at two different times during my recovery. Both times, I took 300mg in the morning and 600 at night. The first time, it worked fairly well for 2 years then stopped working. The second time, I had unwanted side effects (felt like I couldn't breathe and had horrible nightmares) and was on it only a few weeks. The way people experience the effectiveness and/or side effects of an antipsychotic is very much an individual thing. You may or may not find symptom relief with or without the added Geodon and Abilify. It is one of those try it and see things. But if I were you, I would do what the doctor says, at least until you are able to talk to him about it. Perhaps you could just talk to him over the phone and get an answer.

i had been on serequel two or three different times. i took it the past year. but i stopped i had near fainting and dizzy spells. i could not climb a ladder. now im just on 4mg of risperdal. my car felt like it was just all over the road on serequel. turns out my car is just as wide as a lane of traffic. i had to wait until 2pm to drive everyday. i would be careful mixing serequel with antihistimines. i accidentally messed up my vitals signs taking serequel with an antihistimine. the antihistimine was prescribed for me to replace serequel . i just needed better sleep hygiene. for seven days i was supposed to take a quarter of the serequel with the antihistimine. i messed up and forgot and took a whole serequel by mistake. i had bad vital signs and had to call ambulance.
