Fatique & flu-like withdrawals after quitting Abilify just over a week ago?

MD

I have a family member who's been suffering with severe fatigue this past week and just recently flu-like symptoms (w/o cough cold or digestive problems - Dr. ruled out flu) just after tapering off Abilify about a week ago. He was put on Lamotrigine as he was tapering off, but now he feels just awful. He has taken Abilify for more than two years. Could this be the cause of his extreme fatigue and flu-like symptoms? He has no other flu-like symptoms except a severe headache. He recently went off because of the expense of Abilify, but I think he should go back on again immediately just so he will feel better. He's missed work, etc. He had a lot of blood work done recently that has ruled out disease of any nature. Please help! We need some answers!

I will ask my pharmacist and get back to you about the fatigue.

I have been on abilify since last feb, and do not like the medication.  I have tried twice to get off, and after a week or so, suffered extreme fatigue, nausea, and felt generally sick, even though I had no symptoms.  The second time, I lasted 10 days before I gave up and went back on.  I would love to know how long this would last, and if there is anything that can be done about it.

Schizophrenia is a syndrome characterized by disturbances in emotions, thought, activity, and language, that leaves patients fearful and withdrawn.
