risperidone interaction with altroxin tab.

pt girl 13 years old taking 75 mg risperidone tab. she suffering from hypothyrodisim and takes 800 mg altroxin tab. weekly after taking risperidone for 3 months she gained more than 10 kg. is there any interaction between risperidone and thyroxin tab.

Hello,
Your best bet is to ask the pharmacist about whether the combo of the two drugs could cause the weight gain. Risperdal itself can cause weight gain. Hypothyroidism could cause weight gain in itself too. So that fact that she's taking a combo of the two isn't necessarily the reason for the weight gain. Any one of the two - the Risperdal OR thee hypothyroidism - could do it on their own.
