Hi johnluis,

You have learned from firsthand experience why the statistic is true that violence increases among people with schizophrenia who abuse drugs.  Drug use is an indicator that someone with schizophrenia will be violent.

You should stay away from this guy and if you can, you should have you and your family members get orders of protection from the courts so that he cannot come anywhere near any of you.

The damage is done.  You chose to hit the guy you cannot undo that.  Going forward I would talk to your lawyer and claim self-defense.  I would mention that the guy attacked you three times prior and you feared for your life.  You would not be exaggerating to tell the truth at this point.

Unfortunately if this guy is still abusing drugs he is most likely going to be violent in the future.  You have typed us this e-mail so obviously you are free in a place to be able to send e-mails.  So I would right now claim self-defense and get the orders of protection.

Regards,

Christina
