Q: early signs of schizophrenia? or extreme mixed bipolar disorder?

ive been havin extreme problems thinkin clearly and handeling outside stimuli for the past four years, it has become worst over time. ive been diagnosed with bipolar I disorder but only because i said bipolar runs in the family, i dont believe i have bipolar because my symptoms dont fit the way someone with bipolar feels. my mother was treated with PMDD and my father had bipolar I disorder with psychosis, he never got treatment and over time he's illness turned from manic-depressive to cronic mixed moods, on my mother's side he sister have the illness, the youngest haves bipolar II and her oldest sister have rapid cyclcing bipolar I disorder with psychosis, my cousin a well has bipolar II without psychosis. the way i feel think speak and veiw the world is compleatly diffrent from the way they feels, ive never manic or depressed, just "mixed" for the past for years but only till recent ive been seeing and hearing things for a short moment and my mind has been clowdy, ive been trying to find what is wrong but no luck. could i have early signs of schizophrenia or extreme mixed bipolar. i need help because the symptoms are getting worse

Hi kalvie,

Please see a psychiatrist immediately to get a diagnosis and be treated with medication.  The longer you go without medication the worse it can be.

A diagnosis can change over time as new symptoms appear.  Schizoaffective is a diagnosis that combines elements of schizophrenia [psychosis] and a mood disorder [depression or mania].

I wouldn't delay.  I would get help now.

Feel free to ask another Question or write a SharePost to get support after you see the psychiatrist.

The doctor is the best person to help you know.

Be honest with him or her about your symptoms.

Give yourself peace of mind and get help.

Regards,

Christina
