My friend is having 37.5 mg Resperdal consta injections twice a month + 4 mg tablets of Resperidon daily for last three months. Please advise me if the dose is o.k or higher. He is 25 years old and had a second episode after a year.

Previously he was given the same medication for only seven months for the first time. He became o.k for six months but he stopped taking medication and he had the second episode and for that he is taking the above medicine now.He does not think that he is suffering schizophernia and he does not want to take medication either so his parents have put him in Rehab. He was on heavy drinking and Hashish for almost six months before falling in to the second episode.

Thanks and kind regards.

I do not know if your friend is on the right meds or not. I do know that denial of sz is common. I didn't start to get better until I accepted I had sz. Alcohol and street drugs are nevr good in any lifestyle. Too often I read about MI's that use illegal drugs and end up in a far worse place. Recovery for me means-No street drugs, no alcohol, taking meds as prescribed, a regular sleep pattern, eating healthy, and exercise. Plus a good support system.

I wish you and your friend well. Be patient and persevere.

David
