Hello,

I would not obsess over the worst happening.  I would give your kids love and tell them you love them if I were you, I would tell them often that I loved them.

As for passing the illness on to your sons, a website gives some ideas about heredity.

Even with that, if the illness is caught in time and treated immediately with medication, a person can go on to live a full, productive life.  I have schizophrenia and I have a Masters degree and have worked as a professional librarian for 12 years.

I urge you as your kids get older to get them involved in the world, either through part-time jobs, volunteer work or travel abroad or to other cities.  Keep them active.  Encourage them to talk to you about what's going on in their lives.

At any rate, you should read up about schizophrenia and be aware of the early warning signs and symptoms so that you can be proactive should you need to take action.

However like I said I wouldn't worry unduly.

Regards,

Christina
