Hello robert7734,   It will certainly be easier if your girlfriend has the insight that something is wrong and needs to be evaluated.  If she has anosognosia, the lack of awareness that there is a problem, it will be much harder for her to seek help voluntarily.   With this in mind, Xavier Amador wrote the book, I Am Not Sick, I Don't Need Help (Vida Press, 2007) to coach people on how to talk to loved ones to persuade them to seek treatment and stay in treatment.  You might want to read it. Carolyn gave some good advice.   You might want to talk to your girlfriend when she is feeling comfortable and let her know you're concerned.  Should she refuse treatment you will have to decide how to proceed.   We will support you either way.   Regards, Christina
