Hi pat,
You are going through a lot right now and don't have to go it alone.
You could call NAMI at (800) 950-NAMI (6264) to find the name and number of the local affiliate in your city or town that has a family support group. There you will find wisdom from other parents dealing with similar situations.
Sorry I cannot diagnose or say the anger is a symptom of adhd. adhd and a number of other diagnoses seem to be given out like candy to kids nowadays so I will not even begin to suggest what other label could describe what's going on either.
I would suggest you might want to find a qualified compassionate child therapist he could talk to who might be able to work on his anger or who can at least talk with him and refer you to some kind of anger management for pre-tweens what are now called tweens.
Some boundaries need to be set and some kind of therapy like behavior therapy to change his behavior comes to my mind as a possibility right now.
Regards,
Christina
