Is there a generic form for risperdal/risperdone?

It is so expensive for a months supply. I would hate for my fiance and brother to stop taking it due to the cost but I am afraid that this is what will happen.

go to canadapharmacy.com. Ive used them for about 10 years. They have the generic called risperdone and it is considerably less expensive than Risperdal the brand drug. My understanding was that the generic would be available here in the US in June 08 but it looks like that has been pushed in the future.

Hello Jnutt,

At the NAMI 2008 convention, a psychiatrist indicated that Risperdal goes off patent in the U.S. in 14 days, so I would keep asking your pharmacist here every week for an update.

I was at the convention when you wrote in, so didn't get a chance to reply.

But yes, Risperdal is set to have a generic in the U.S. in 14 days.

Keep after your pharmacist.

Regards,

Chri
