Q: please explain about the prospect of neurogenesis in the use of atypical antipsychotics.

i've heard about this phenomenon, but i have no complete knowledge. can anyone please enlighten me in simpler words? what atypicals may be causing neurogenesis? thanks a lot.

Risperidone (Risperdal) and Olanzapine (Zyprexa) are thought to cause neurogenesis.

 

In one scholarly article it refers to the fact that functional neurons are generated throughout the lifespan.  Neurogenesis is the regeneration, that is the generation of new brain cells.
