Altered Visual perception and Schizophrenia including red/green flashes, headaches? Info please
Would be grateful for any input from experts, also from community share posters here. Thank you.
I remember reading ,(recently but it may have been an old posting), someone had been experiencing momentary red/green flashes, I think, at time between sleeping and waking, but so far now can't trace that particular post.Should have saved to 'my home' I know...
I know it was from someone who posts regularly with very descriptive posts of their experiences, so that I look forward to reading them.
Think it is my medical/scientific background but I am just so intrigued in how these sensory inputs get sent or received differently in the sz/ non sz brain, feel there are some important keys here in particular linked with how the meds do their work, in stabilising the neurochemical pathways.
Please do not be offended by my simplistic shorthand , using initials, about the different way in which the brain works.
Thanks

Hello Chris,
As you know, a person with schizophrenia can have visual hallucinations, not as common as auditory ones, though.
Another time this happens [and it happened with me] was in that moment between sleep and waking, or being awake and sleeping, which is called hypnogogic. I saw a smoky red figure flash out in front of my eyes.
Regret I, too, can't remember whose SharePost it was.
Regards,
cb

Several years ago, my attempts to go to sleep were often sabotaged by words flashing in neon green in the right side of my head. All the words started with a "z" like zonk, zip, zap, zoom and sometimes they were accompanied by the sensation these words were shouted at me. They would violently wrench me awake. But I never discussed it with my therapist or doctor.
Yes, it would be interesting to know the scientific explanation.
