Upwards of 60 percent of the people diagnosed with SZ recover fully or significantly improve, according to long-term studies. About 85 percent reach the stabilization, stable and recovery stages. 15 percent have refractory schizophrenia, which can respond well to cognitive therapy, cognitive remediation and Clozaril, a drug that often relieves symptoms in people whose symptoms did not respond to any of the other drugs.
Recovery is not only possible, it's probable for most people diagnosed with SZ.

I'm afraid you are going to be disappointed. And I'm not sure what is "interesting" to you. The vast majority of us who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, are not any different from everyone else in most respects. What you need is not to give facts that tend to cause stigma toward those of us with mental illness, but give your audience a feast of names throughout history who have had this malady and gone on to do great things. The info is there if you just search Google.
The number 1 disability is quadraplegia (paralyzed arms & legs)
Number 2 is dementia
Number 3 is psychotic disorders (including schizophrenia)
Number 4 is blindness
Number 5 is paraplegia (legs are paralyzed)
It is great to be upbeat about schizophrenia but you have to realize it is also one of the most debilitating illnesses there is.
