Hi scrumhalf76,
Whether something is common or not isn't necessarily the point. A person's belief that he is telepathic could be a delusion. I would not be surprised if a lot more people have this delusion and simply don't talk about it for fear of the stigma. I used to believe the government was after me because I had started a revolution through music [I was a disc jockey] and that the world was ending. So each person can have his or her own manifestation of the SZ symptoms.
Regards,
Christina
At the beginning of my psychosis I thought I could move objects, start fires and read minds. Those were so far from the truth. I am not psychic and unable to read minds or start fires and move objects. After I was medicated a while those delusions went away. Not many talk about those delusions, so I am only speaking through my own experience.

I had written a response to this question but I had a problem with my internet connection and I lost the response. I think that "telepathy" is somewhat of a common symptom. It might even help classify what particular kind diagnosis that you are affected with. I have a friend (with sz) that did a lot of that sort of thing and there is even quite a bit of biblical support for that as well. The problem with people affected by sz is that it ends up controlling them and tormenting them rather than it being of any use. IOW, it ends up not being true. Any time you mess with anything supernatural, confusion is close by. Don't think that you can take on the forces evil by yourself. You have to have truth on your side. You have to have a clear conscience. You have to be sanctified which means you have to be perfect.
These shows about vampires and witches could be doing a lot more harm than people realize.
