My son is having homocidal thoughts, is this usual with pschizophrenia?
Hello Carla,
I haven't heard that it is usual for people with schizophrenia to have homocidal thoughts. Are you the same Carla I responded to one minute ago about the side effects of the drugs, ro do you just happen to have the same first name?
Your son will need to be in treatment with an experienced, empathetic professional who is not turned off by this symptoms.
The truth is, I believe it's rare for someone with schizophrenia to have homocidal thoughts. More likely, the person believes he is being persecuted and that people are out to get him, not that he wants to harm other people.
Respectfully,
Chri

No it is not usual for anyone to have homicidal thoughts, however your son may need help whether he has schizophrenia or not. If he seems at all threatening, report him to the authorities. This sounds harsh, but it may be the only way to get him help. He will not be charged with any crimes if he has not committed any, but if he is considered a threat to himself or others they can take him to a psychiatric facility against his will. That is the only way he will be hospitalized if he is not willing to seek help for himself. It would be better to get help for distubing thoughts than to spend his life in jail for acting on them.
Of course, lots of people get angry and say things that they do not really mean.

It all started when my grandson, was bullied by his classmates. His classmates are questioning his sexuality and my grandson's had a hard time dealing with that. Then he started to run away from the house, he often walk unconsciously, he started to have some wierd thoughts in school, and such..
We already had him checked by a psychiatrist. He had medications and he somewhat changed his behavior, he came back to normal.. But after quite some time, he had the visions and thoughts again. His behavior had gone weird.
Are there any more things that we need to do? because when he's being checked up by a psychiatrist, the evaluation is normal but when he's in the house, he's really NOT.
