Hi 247,
I agree with David's assessment. All the available evidence points to the fact that psychoactive substances such as cannabis, can have a detrimental effect on psychological states. As with all studies, we have to consider the fact that results are phrased in terms of 'probability' rather than 'inevitability'. Therefore, whilst it is not inevitable that symptoms will worsen, there is a clinically significant probability that they may. The higher the 'dose' of the active substance being smoked, the greater the risk and the greater likelihood of hospital re-admission.
Hello,
Other people have asked your question in this forum before.
I'll tell you what I've told them:
If you never wanted to recover from schizophrenia, a good way to mess up your life would be to continue to smoke cannibis / marijuana. That's the quickest way to a dead-end, you simply won't recover.
If you think I"m being melodramatic, I'll tell you about my friend, Stella. She was on Zyprexa, and continued to smoke, and she got paranoid and had symptoms for WEEKS and WEEKS after taking the cannibis.
It's a no-win situation all around.
Sorry.
Regards,
Christina
