Q: Can anyone tell me about cogentin for EPS -- side effects, etc.

My doc wants me to start taking cogentin for akathisia/EPS and I really don't want to take anything else, but I can't sit still and have trouble sleeping.

Cogentin is used in the same way Artane is used. I took Artane when I took the Stelazine and didn't think twice about it. I didn't have side effects when I took this combo. The only side effect I had was that I was so drowsy in the morning I couldn't wake up on time and was late to work nearly every day. This wasn't because of the Artane though.

I'm not familiar with Cogentin being used to treat akathisia but if it is I wouldn't be too concerned about taking it.
