Q: irritability = not enough meds?

I take 10mg of Zyprexa, 300mg Wellbutrin SR, 150mg of Zoloft and over the past couple of weeks have been getting more angry and irritable each day. Is it because I am not getting enough medication or just because of the seasonal stresses?  I am actually supposed to be taking 20mg of Zyprexa, but I have never been irritable before on half the dose.

Hi Carolyn,

Sorry for the delay in responding, I'm under the weather, have a cold or something else, seeing the doctor today.

It's possible that the lower Zyprexa could do that, ask your psychiatrist, too.

When I was on the lower dose of Stelazine and then on the drug holiday, I was angry, too.

Regards,

Christina

Hi DCROY9663, I think you're being too hard on yourself.       I mean, why expect your mood to be perfect all the time ?          And because you take an anti-psychotic as well as an anti-depressant you may find that the combo doesn't always work well together.

My diagnosis is schizo-affective disorder which means I take mood stabilizers as well . I take two of them but they are for mania not for depression as with you .

I think all of us who take "drug cocktails" have to be aware of the subtle problems that can occur as these drugs hopefully work together.

I'm a fifty year old man and it took me until last year to get real emotional counselling.   And that was after thirty years of SZ.           I just hope that your anger is not directed against yourself.

Peace
