Talk with your cousin, do things with your cousin, be there for your cousin and read up on the schizophrenia basics to educate yourself about this medical condition.
People with schizophrenia can and do recover. Encourage your cousin in his or her goals, celebrate the victories and milestones in their recovery, and also be there for him or her when things aren't go well in addition to when they are going well.
Suggest he join a NAMI support group. You can log on to the NAMI web site for more details about this. They're the National Alliance on Mental Illness and also have information about SZ and other medical conditions.
