Hello brendalou,

Abilify can cause moderate weight gain compared to the major culprits like Zyprexa and Risperdal.

The drug I'm on that caused no weight gain [and is touted as a weight-neutral atypical] is Geodon.

A disclaimer: I'm not paid in any way, either directly or indirectly, to promote this drug.  However it has given me my life back.  When I told a woman online that it worked like a virtual cure she was angered I used the word cure.  However it's the best drug I've been on to treat schizophrenia.

The last disclaimer: not all drugs work equally well for all people and you might have a different experience from the one I had.

However your question has been answered: Geodon is not known to cause significant weight gain.

Regards,

Christina

I gained weight rapidly on Zyprexa, but just as rapidly lost it on Geodon.  But I couldn't stick with the Geodon because it caused insomnia and agitation and made my bladder hurt.  It also led to a worsening of my hypothyroidism, a rare side effect.

Abilify also caused me to have insomnia and agitation.
