Hello chrystal,

I'm sorry to hear that your boyfriend hasn't been right towards you.

Please understand I want only the best for you.

If you could possibly do so, consider what I'm about to say.

Marijuana use could indeed cause schizophrenia-like symptoms.

It's your call whether you still want to be romantically involved with someone who smokes weed.

Personally, even though tons of people claim smoking pot doesn't cause any harm, I have seen it destroy lives.  It fries people's brains.  Some people who smoke weed find they can't function or sit through events without smoking beforehand.

This is sad.

Dr. Phil has always been the one to tell his advice column readers, "We teach others how to treat us."

You have to nip this behavior in the bud or it will only happen again.

If my boyfriend didn't respect himself and like and care about himself enough to refrain from drugs, I would let him know in no uncertain terms that the relationship was over.

There are, as the expression goes, "plenty of fish in the sea": for him, for you.

If you feel he loves and respects you, and you want to stay involved with him, that's your choice.

However, I would consider things carefully.

Also because, his marijuana use could be a form of self-medicating the symptoms of schizophrenia.  You don't know that, nor do I, though this could be entirely possible.

Wishing you the best,

Chri

My first psychotic was when I was smoking pot. One minute I was fine, the very next I was hearing voices. I believe that my "illness" was the triggered by drugs. I have always has schizophrenia.

I would like to echo Chris's words, if he gets abusive you need to make a decision. No woman needs to be abused. There are plenty of fish in the sea. Don't blame yourself. If it doesn't work, do yourself a favor and move on.

I wish the best for you.

Dave
