New research suggests that putting the older antipsychotic drug loxapine in a new device designed to deliver it in an inhaled aerosol form helps calm acute agitation in patients with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Scientists found that loxapine that was delivered by the new device gave an IV-like rapid response compared to a placebo.
