Cambridge University researchers have developed a blood test that could aid in the early diagnosis of recent-onset schizophrenia. The VeriPsych blood test could complement the traditional patient interview-based diagnosis by identifying a biomarker in the blood that is an indicator of the presence of the thought disorder. The scientists say they hope this test could provide psychiatrists with "additional confidence" in their diagnosis of schizophrenia in their patients.
