New warnings have been added to the schizophrenia med Haldol to warn users about the risk of dangerous heart conditions and sudden death. The warnings alert patients that ailments, including a cardiac electrical disorder known as QT prolongation, have been found in some patients. Most of these patients took Haldol intravenously--which is not an approved use--or took a higher-than-normal dose.
