Doctors track schizophrenia's brain changes with MRIs

Experts say diagnosing schizophrenia is more art than science, but thanks to a study at Northwestern University, doctors may now be able to use MRI technology to better understand the condition. With this new technique, doctors use a computer to chart changes in a schizophrenia patients' brain, which they record through MRI scans. This creates a "brain map" of the patient's brain, and this allows them to follow the progress of the disease. Scientists hope this technique may one day be used to develop better treatments for people with schizophrenia.
