Accused Professor Likely Has Paranoid Schizophrenia: Lawyer

A lawyer defending accused University of Alabama at Huntsville professor Amy Bishop says his client appears to have paranoid schizophrenia. Roy W. Miller told the Associated Press that his client, who is accused of killing three fellow faculty members over a tenure dispute, does not remember the rampage and has asked him if she still has a job at the university. Bishop's husband, James Anderson, says that Bishop's denial of tenure was the cause of the shootings, which also left three other university staff members wounded. Psychiatrists say schizophrenia can go undiagnosed for years, especially for people like Bishop who lead very private lives.  Read full story >
