EEG May Predict Risk for Schizophrenia

Scientists say an electroencephalography (EEG) may one day be used to identify people who are the most at risk for developing schizophrenia and other mental illnesses before these people develop any symptoms. In a recent study, researchers found that people who had siblings with schizophrenia had a type of EEG brain wave that was slightly different from people in the general population. The investigators say this information could be used to identify people most at risk for developing a mental health disorder, allowing doctors to treat these conditions before symptoms even begin to appear.  Read full story >
