New Schizophrenia Drug May Be Most Promising in Years: Expert

A leading psychiatry researcher has called drugmaker Roche's experimental schizophrenia medication RG1678 for treating listlessness and apathy in schizophrenics "the most exciting development [in the treatment of schizophrenia] in a long time." Columbia University's Jeffrey Lieberman is particularly impressed with the drug because it works differently from the medications that preceded it, because the med is well designed, and because it treats symptoms of schizophrenia that current medicines don't.
