Chlamydia Misdiagnosis???

By SarahR Tuesday, May 05, 2009

I went in for my yearly pap test. I complained of having trouble concieving and spotting exactly a week before my period leading into my period for 4 months now. I had various blood and swab tests and they said I have chlamydia. I was tested a year ago for chlamydia because I was pregnant and it was negative. I have never had any std and my husband and I have been married for 3 years with both of us having no extra-marital affairs--he also tested negative before we were married. I am wondering if this is something I could have given him before he was tested and then he just gave it back to me recently or could this be a false-positive?? Thanks--I am so concerned!

Hello

Just wondering if your husband was tested as well recently.

Anything is possible.  I am going to give you some information first about chlamydia which may read here.

And here is some information about the misdiagnosis of chlamydia here.

Lastly...here is a forum where it appears that the individual who began the thread had been misdiagnosed.

Hope this helps some.  Good luck to you.

True it's important that you both get tested and treated. Many times especially in men the symptoms of chlamydia can be non exisitent and you'll just pass it back and forth to each other.

Hi--thanks for your message--I probably should have posted after I was retested the day after I recieved the diagnosis before taking any medication and my husband was tested as well that day. We were both negative so we are proof that lab errors occur and everyone should always get a retest for anything they are diagnosed with.

Hi there!

Isn't that something?  I am so glad you wrote back to tell us about this...it might help someone else who is in this situation to know that these mistakes happen.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
