Evidence continues to indicate that male circumcision reduces the risk of sexually transmitted infections and even certain types of cancer. In the past week alone, studies have pointed to a significant reduction in the risk of HIV infection in heterosexual African American men, known to have been exp...

Oh come on. American graveyards have hundreds of thousands of dead, HIV-positive, circumcised males. The CDC reports that 80% of adult American males are circumicised. When HIV was first discovered, that rate was over 90%. The United States has the dubious honor of having an extremely high circumcision rate and the highest per capita HIV rate in the developed world. And even if you believe the reality defying studies, circumcision has never been shown to protect homosexuals, women, or IV drug users from HIV infection.

HIV is a disease of behavior. If you want to avoid HIV, you need to practice safe sex and avoid needle drugs or at the very least, sharing needles. That means periodic testing and 100% condom use unless one is in a faithful monogamous relationship where both partners are disease free. Proper behavior is the only thing that will protect both men and women, gay and straight, from HIV.

As far as HPV, Gardasil has been approved for men and women. Get vaccinated. Practice safe sex.

Pushing circumcision wastes time and money better spent on education and condoms.

There is not one word in this article about the value and function of the foreskin. A man's foreskin is the most sensitive part of his penis. A foreskin feels really good!

Since I have to wear a condom for protection whether I am circumcision or not, why on earth would I want to cut off the best part of my penis?

Unfortunately Dr. Kennard comes from a generation of Americans that has little or no knowledge of or appreciation for normal, intact male genitals. It is past time for older American doctors to learn about the value and the function of the foreskin before they promote male circumcision to the next generation.

Just to put things into a little perspective, Dr.Kennard is British, is not a medical doctor, and is a psychologist. The Sharepost you are commenting on is actually a summary of a research digest.

SO then what makes Jerry Kennard, a psycholgist, an "expert" on circumcision or anything for that matter. The title is overused and worthless. Give it up on trying to continue the propaganda.....cutting off parts of childrens sexual organs is WRONG period! If an adult can't use a condom and wants to cut off the most sensitive part of his body..let him...but leave kids sexual organs ALONE.

I do think you are confusing the issues. If you read the Sharepost it makes it clear that I'm 'reporting' the publications of others. You are quite right to comment on the issue, but I think you are confusing the message with the messenger.
