great post! Lots of helpful advice.
I have one addition - take painkillers before you have sex. It can help reduce pain and allow you to have better sex (although, remember that you are on painkillers, so don't swing from the chandeliers - you'll be sorry afterwards if you do). The endorphins that come with orgams ara also terrific painkillers and in combination with your pain meds can give you excellent pain relief that might carry into the next day.
to receive sexual "help" articles so why am I receiving this?
If I need to unsubscribe from ALL of your articles, I will. I do not appreciate being "signed up" to receive articles about subjects I do not want to receive. Can you explain how this came about to be? Just because I subscribed to your articles about a particular subject does that mean I have to receive EVERYTHING you write? If so, please let me know & I will unsubscribe immediately...
I do apologize.
We have been merging our profiles (I have more than one as I write for multiple sites) to simplify things and this why you may be getting notified of more posts than you signed up for.
I will gladly talk to my producer to see what we can do. We don't want to lose you as a member so let me know which sites or subscriptions you do want and I will see to it that this gets fixed.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Kind regards,
MM
OK--how do I do this? Find out all the subjects you are writing about (UMM-I had no idea you were going to send me sexual articles) & then decide which ones I want to subscribe to or should I just unsubscribe to everything?
Heading out to my 4th surgery within the last year the day after tomorrow (chronic pain is one of my issues as well as bipolar 1 & PTSD) so you did write some articles addressing those issues & that is the reason I subscribed (anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain, etc.).
However, I do not appreciate being "signed up" for subjects I did not choose myself & would appreciate being informed of the best method of rectifying the situation.
Hello again
I totally understand. If you had signed up to read depression and anxiety posts you may not be interested in sexual health posts.
You don't have to do a thing. I can rectify this easily by simply using my other profile for the posts I write for our sexual health site.
I hope your surgery goes well and again I am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you. We are here to serve you and make sure that your experience here is a good one.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
MM
Thanks so much for your quick response (& understanding & not calling me a prude)!
I have subscribed to your articles for many years & commented many times (I'm the one who used several different "names" after being harrassed by someone--not on your particular posts or replies but another on Health Central).
So thanks for your help & good wishes. "Going under" is always scary as my psych meds make it so I can wake up during the surgery. I have to have special monitors on me so that the docs can tell if I'm awake even if I can't speak (or scream--which I did the first time this happened).

Oops--sorry for the double post!
Oh yes I know you!
And I (we) greatly value your loyalty to our sites. I am so sorry for the mishap. No...you are most certainly not a prude...you just signed up for certain things and that is what you shall get from now on.
Surgery is a big deal. I am a big 'ol scaredy cat when it comes to any type of surgery or even minor procedures. So my thoughts will be with you and I hope you come out of it with flying colors.
So glad we got this resolved. :>)
Hope to hear from you again and especially to know how your surgery went for you.
MM
Oh my!
I would be nervous too. I am reading about your condition. It sounds very painful and especially since it involves your foot. Here is a little bit of information from the Mayo Clinic about surgery. What type of surgery were you going to have?
Here is a site about such surgery and it does seem there can be complications and that maybe other remedies should be tried first.
I am not a doctor so I don't know anything about this type of condition or treatment but as a fellow patient...I am thinking you made a wise choice to wait and see if these other things might work.
So sorry you have to endure this type of pain. Please keep us updated as to how things work out okay?
MM
PS I am sure you already visit this site....but our chronic pain site may have some information or ideas on this.
Feel better soon!
Yes--chronic pain as have severe back issues & auto immune thing making my nerves "go wild" in my hands (had 2 hand surgeries) so 2 yrs. ago couldn't even touch a piece of paper (just suddenly started; had to go to ER), had to quit work, get on morphine (my husband told the pain management doc he couldn't stand to hear me cry all night!! What?? I could have been helped further, but my husband's interrupted sleep produced further options???!! Had neg. side effects from morphine {did relieve pain} but had to get off it within 5 days--also good subject for you to pursue is having to sign the 6 pg. or whatever "drug agreement" & submit to urine tests when my hands don't work so I end up peeing all over my hands as can't even hold the cup properly & being made to feel like a criminal instead of innocent until proven guilty! Made them count the morphine pills I returned & put it in my chart as got paranoid about this document I signed said I could be investigated at any time!).
Anyway--chronic pain messes w/your head (no sleep & no quality of life--no life, really) & then add the fact I have mental health issues (bipolar 1, PTSD & acute anxiety)...
It's been hell for 2 yrs.--now hand pain diminshed but still things don't feel normal when I touch them & things that have texture (fabrics, seat belt even, etc.) & I have to put on 3 pairs of gloves many times during the day & at night to "rest" my hands.
Recommended to go to Mayo Clinic by neurologist but now foot thing!!!
I'm recommending to everyone: DON'T GET OLD! I'm 57 but I sure am falling apart...
You have been through so much. I can't even imagine. I hope you do find some support here among other members who are also dealing with chronic pain. You are a true survivor.
It does seem that things start to happen as you grow older. I had no health problems until after 40 and then I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I didn't even know what it was. But then there are many young people as well dealing with unimaginable medical conditions. Illness, disease, and pain...can affect anyone.
Know that we are thinking of you and hoping that you get to experience some days without all the pain.
Thank you so much for sharing your story here.
