I have migraines and when I "maxed" out on Topamax (300mg) my doc encouraged me to add another med. My BP runs low so we decided to try an antidepressant. I told him - nothing with side effects of weight gain, excessive drowsiness or sexual dysfunction. For starters we tried Lexapro, since it was newer and wasn't "touted" for it drowsiness and weight gain at least. But even at it's lowest doses, I was sleeping all the time and life in the bedroom was not all fun and games.

I switched to Cymbalta, which is actually slightly different (in a class with Effexor). At 30mg I felt great side effect wise but my headaches came back. At the standard dose of 60mg, my headaches are better but I'm back to sleeping more and no more fun for me. I lived with those horrid headaches for 3-4 years. Hard to decide (well not really!!!) but hard to decide when I could be having fun with hubby whether I want my share of fun during sex or daily headache pain.....
