Great article and right on topic with what our readers are asking about lately.  I will definitely be referring our members to your informative article on Plan B.

My understanding is that if you follow the directions precisely the incidence of a pregnancy is "quite low" though not 100% so if you do have suspicions after using this contraception, see your OB/GYN.

What is the onset & duration of the side effects from the new plan b?  I've been extremely fatigued, have breast tenderness, & increased appetite.  I'm due for my period in a week & took plan b about 8 days ago.

The ultimate "proof" that Plan B was effective is obviously to get your period.  The dose of the hormone can throw your cycle off a bit and obviously the symptoms you're describing could also precede menstration.  You can test for a pregnancy just when your period should be due, but if you are concerned about your symptoms, I would call your OB/GYN and discuss the situation for clarification and a second opinion.

I'll be taking Plan B today, the failure occured last night, but tonight was the night I was supposed to go off my birth control, wait, and have my period. Should I restart my birth control, or wait and see if I get my period?

Once you take Plan B you should give a quick call to your Gyn doctor so they can make an entry in your file (it's good to track these health events) and I would quickly ask the doctor's thoughts on when to re-start your birth control.
