Q: My doctor wants to do a biopsy. What does all this mean?

I had a normal pap smear but endometrial cells were found.  I am 46 years old and the nurse told me I am too young to have findings like this.  My doctor wants to do a biopsy.  What does all this mean?

Biopsy is simply collecting some of your cells from a suspect area and having the lab verify or dismiss a suspected condition. So the doctor is trying to be more certain that the initial suspicion is supported, before any treatment. I'm hoping the biopsy verifies what your nurse thought. I wish you the best.
